 2 pieces of rulers with glass lenses: plus and minus. The optics on both are 0.5, 1.0, 1.5. 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 8.0 and 12.

Each of them can be identified in the dark with just your fingers. High refractive errors can be identified with lenses 8.0 and 12.0 in each, and half-diopter lenses from 0.5 to 7.0 increase accuracy in lower refractive states. The lenses have a diameter of 16 mm, recessed into the housing to prevent scratching and increase durability. They have a 180º axis compass printed directly at the top of each blade to increase accuracy in astigmatism orientation.

Testing babies, children and people who cannot be subjectively examined with a phonoptera requires patience, performance and skill. Objective determination of refractive error is an art that also requires the right equipment. When seconds count and accuracy is important, reincopy lines are often the only ones to achieve a patient's well-being.
